About MassHealth vs. Dental Needs

First, I'd like to express this: GRR!

Second, I need some advice... I've got dental issues. Majourly. Severly, if you can believe it. My top canine teeth have been chipping away slowly over the past couple months, and MassHealth refuses to tell me where I can get covered Dental Assisstance. Basically, I've been told I can't get Dental Assisstance. That it's not covered. Not even emergency.

Bullshit, I say... Ther's got to be somewhere that I can have a tooth pulled (under sedation, 'cause I have an EXTREMELY LOW pain tolerance), and have it covered by MassHealth.

Why can't I pay for it? Because I have no income. At all. I have no job. Why? No Greencard. Why? Because the INS is a lazy bunch of people who can't even process paperwork for a replacement card... been doing this for two years. But that's another story.

I'm trying to look on the web for information, and all I'm finding is information about Dental Assisstance provided by MassHealth having been cut. That's not helping me at all. I need help. Badly.

I woke up this morning and my right top canine has chipped away further. I think the nerves are exposed now. And it's killing me. I can't eat anything solid. Not even bread. I can't even lay on my side, because as soon as that side of my face touches even a pillow, it sends wave after wave of pain throughout my entire face.

I'm going to call MassHealth once again at 8 am... (since their customer service line is only in operation M-F, 8am-5pm)... maybe I can get somewhere this time.

But if anyone can help me... if anyone can tell me who to call so I can get this damn thing pulled out (under sedation), please, please, PLEASE let me know... post a comment directly in my journal, I don't care which entry... just please, I'm getting desperate...

And thank you ahead of time...

Has anyone seen Forehead Advertising (http://www.headvertise.com), it's a hoot. So much to disseminate.

Hey,

I saw this post. I am a bit confused- but I think I still might be able to help. If you have Masshealth you can go to https://masshealth-dental.net/memberservices/default.aspx and find a provider. Currently- Dental is covered. Lets say you had an infection, your procedure would actually be under the MassHealth medical benefit- not dental- because infections are medical. That is a whole other story. If you have coverage - go to a provider. Your provider will be charged with contacting MassHealth. MassHealth providers are pretty good at knowing what is covered, what isn't and what needs prior authorization.

If it is an emergency- go to the local ER.

If you do not have mass health, and you are in the UCP (formerly free care) you can use some other roots. Some of the local dental schools (Harvard) has discounted dentistry. Also- check out http://www.massdental.org/content.aspx?id=1260&linkidentifier=id&itemid=1260. I hope this is somewhat helpful.
